Spring is coming and we feel the urge to go out and explore the city. There is so much to do and see … here are our favourites:
If you like street art, then the “Art of Banksy” exhibition is right up your alley. The exhibition in Antwerp’s Stadsfeestzaal features more than 80 works by the controversial artist.
This Banksy exhibition was created thanks to the unique collaboration of 40 collectors. According to the exhibition’s curator, the likelihood of seeing so many of Banksy’s works in one location is rather small.
You can visit ´The art of Banksy` exhibition in Stadsfeestzaal up to and including 19 March 2017. The exhibition is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
From 31 March until 27 August 2017, MoMu (the Antwerp fashion museum) will exhibit Belgian designer Martin Margiela’s Hermès collections. The tribute exhibition also explores the relationship between these collections and Margiela’s own label, Maison Martin Margiela.
When the Parisian house of Hermès appointed Belgian designer Martin Margiela as its artistic director for the women’s ready-to-wear collections in October 1997, the founder of Maison Martin Margiela had already been known for almost a decade as one of the most influential avant-garde designers. His predilection for the deconstruction, recycling and recovery of materials was unheard of in the fashion world.
To date, Margiela’s work for Hermès continues to influence the work of many contemporary designers. During Paris Fashion Week for autumn-winter 2016-2017 the international press described Martin Margiela – who withdrew from the fashion world more than eight years ago – as the true protagonist of fashion week. High time to showcase some of his masterpieces in MoMu.

The annual Belgian culinary festival Antwerpen Proeft (Taste of Antwerp) was organised for the first time in 2007. This year, the 11th edition will be held during the Labour Day weekend. Taste of Antwerp will once again be pitching its tents near the Scheldt in the centre of Antwerp, in the Eilandje neighbourhood at Waagnatie. The festival is prepared for all weather, with indoor and outdoor stands, bars and public terraces.
A slew of Michelin-starred chefs, TV chefs, emerging young chefs, leading restaurants and A list food trucks. This is the only time that you will be able to simultaneously taste so many signature dishes of renowned chefs, in one location, for a fraction of the normal restaurant price.
So invite your friends and family and join us from 28 April until 1 May 2017 at Waagnatie for a fabulous tasting experience. Save the dates in your agenda and bon appétit!
