If you haven’t heard it before, Antwerp is a fantastic place to spend a weekend. We are so lucky to live in this city of history, culture and beauty. If you only have 24 hours to spend here, here are some absolute must-dos:

Tourist Attractions

If you have any interest in art or artists, or even if you don’t, you should visit Rubenshaus. Peter Paul Ruben was a world-famous and extremely talented Baroque painter. The museum was Rubens former home and studio and is now one of the most renowned artist's residences worldwide. He was well versed in almost everything, from painting & architecture to science & politics. His self-designed house is absolutely stunning and contains some of his finest works.

Velo Bicycles

For something different, and if the weather is good, spend the day exploring our beautiful and unique city by bike. You can zoom around Antwerp on our dedicated bike lanes to ensure you see exactly what you want, and fast! You can rent the bikes for as little as €4.00 per day, and take short rides between the conveniently located Velo Stations. You can subscribe very easily on their website and you are ready to ride. Just remember to wear a helmet, Belgians are very competent riders and don’t like to share the road with slow beginners!

Dinner

In our opinion, one of the finest restaurants in all of Antwerp, Lux Restaurant has evolved from classic French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist to a completely individual style of dining. Head Chef Bert Zaman has been there since the very beginning and is constantly improving his menu and experimenting with new styles and cooking techniques. The food is exquisite and you have to try their fabulous desserts before you leave. Order a standard ice-cream sundae and you receive a work of art, topped off with plenty of our world-renowned Belgian Chocolate.

Nightlife

After a long day of cycling, exploring and eating, you may want to relax and unwind with some drinks and dancing. Café d'Anvers is one of our iconic nightclubs and it just happens to be inside a 16th-century church in the middle of Antwerp’s red-light district. This unusual venue hosts performances and sets from the best DJs and producers in the world. A must when visiting Belgium and Antwerp!
