Whether you are a fan of food and drinks or music and culture, there is always something going on in this vibrant city to suit everyone! Throughout the year there are events and festivals ranging from Jazz music to pop up bars. Here are our recommendations for the best annual events not to be missed;

Tomorrowland

One of the biggest and most notable electronic music festivals in the world, Tomorrowland is held in the Belgian town of Boom and has been growing in size since 2005. The festival is based around the idea that ‘We are all responsible for the generation of tomorrow and respect each other and Mother Nature’. The fantastic colourful atmosphere is matched by some of the biggest and best DJ’s and acts performing over two weekends in July.

Jazz Middelheim

This festival is like the older sibling of Tomorrowland, more mature and a lot older! The first Jazz Middelheim was held in 1969 in Middelheim Park and is now considered to be the best Jazz festivals in Europe. It has moved to Den Brandt Park (20-minutes’ walk from us) and each year 100s of Jazz aficionados from all over the world to enjoy the easy listening music in these beautiful surroundings. This year one of their feature pieces will be the much-loved music from Disney films performed live, we can’t wait!

Laundry day

Contrary to the name of this festival, this is not a collective day to wash your dirty clothes! Laundry day is a full day event, from mid-day to midnight, and boasts 360 degrees of music divided over 7 spectacular stages. Their line-up this year is very impressive, with plenty of mainly local but also some international talent. Join up to 30,000 people to show your love for all things electro and dance the night away.

Summer Bars

Every year there are a variety of seasonal summer bars that pop-up all over the city. One of our favourites is Jardim, located on Scheldekaai 28, about 45 minutes away on a bus. It has a totally relaxed atmosphere, where you can enjoy great cocktails, delicious BBQ food and stunning sunsets in comfort and style.

Another favourite and after 9 years, a household name in Antwerp, is Bocadero. The Waagnatie has been transformed again this summer into a real urban beach with a total area of 3650 square meters. There are food outlets, a bar, sports areas, a kids-zone and every Thursday there are free salsa lessons. 250,000 people visited last year and it is expected that even more will come this year!

Whether you are into electronic or jazz, or food & drinks on a man-made beach, Antwerp has it all. For a perfect base to explore what the city has to offer, stay in Ramada Plaza Hotel.
