ZOO Antwerpen | Koningin Astridplein

One of the oldest zoo's in the world but still one of the best, Antwerp Zoo is home to 6,000 animals and 950 species. Next to the Centraal Station, the zoo is easily reached by taking the tram from outside the hotel's front door and a great day out for the whole family.

The trams from de Signel to the city centre pass by ZOO Antwerpen. The ‘Antwerpen Premetrostation Astrid’ stop is closest to the zoo entrance.

Red Star Line Museum | Montevideostraat

The Red Star Line was an ocean passenger line founded in 1871 as a joint venture between the International Navigation Company of Philadelphia, which also ran the American Line, and the Société Anonyme de Navigation Belgo-Américaine of Antwerp, Belgium. The company's main ports of call were Antwerp, Liverpool and Southampton in the United Kingdom and New York City and Philadelphia in the United States.

In the city of Antwerp, the former warehouses of the Red Star Line were recently landmarked and reopened as a museum. The main focuses of the museum are the travel stories that could be retrieved through relatives of Red Star Line passengers. In the exhibition the visitor follows the land movers' tracks from the travel agency in Warsaw to their arrival in New York.

MAS | Hanzestedenplaats

For centuries Antwerp has been a hub of trade and exchange and the Museum Aan de Stroom tells our story in the world. As well as the fascinating permanent collections MAS welcomes a great range of temporary exhibits. At the top of the 60m building you are rewarded with 360° panoramic views of the city, river and port.

MAS is located in the harbour district, catch bus number 17 from just around the corner from the hotel to Antwerpen Van Schoonbekeplein stop, approx 350m from the museum.

Plantin-Moretus Museum | Vrijdagmarkt

Exploring the history of the world-famous print company which was founded in the 16th century. The Plantin-Moretus Museum is a nominated UNESCO World Heritage Site and possess an exceptional collection of works including the very first Atlas and newspapers from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Located approximately 1.8km from the hotel (about 20 min walk) in the Vrijdagmarkt.

Cathedral of Our Lady | Groenplaats

One of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe, the cathedral spire rises to 123 metres and is the tallest in the Benelux. Famous as much for its art treasures as its magnificent architecture, most notably it is home to three large paintings by Rubens: Descent from the Cross (1612), Raising of the Cross (1610) and the Resurrection of Christ (1612).

Grote Markt

During your trip to Antwerp you will pass through the Grote Markt. This amazing square in the heart of the old town features the City Hall, tourism information office, the Guild Halls and many cafes and restaurants. During December the square comes alive with traditional Christmas market and outdoor ice-rink.

De Singel Conservatorium

DeSingel is also the home of the The Royal Conservatory Antwerp, which organizes training courses for musicians, actors, dancers, etc.  and provides the training for becoming a music, drama  or dance teacher. This School of Arts has been around since 1995, when the Antwerp Conservatory, Studio Herman Teirlinck and the higher Institute for dance and dance pedagogy were merged into one.
